During his visit to South Korea from September 6 to 11, at the invitation of South Korean National Assembly Speaker Cho Jeong Sik and his wife, Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man reaffirmed that Vietnam considers South Korea one of its most important strategic partners and wants bilateral relations to continue growing in a strong, substantive, effective and long-term manner across all sectors.
During talks in Seoul, Chairman Tran Thanh Man called on South Korea’s National Assembly to encourage Korean companies to expand investment in Vietnam, particularly in high-value sectors such as semiconductors, large-scale AI data centers, infrastructure, energy and seaports. Vietnam also hopes to create greater opportunities for Vietnamese companies to participate more deeply in South Korea’s manufacturing supply chains while promoting greater market access for products from both countries.

The two sides aim to increase bilateral trade to $100 billion in 2026 and reach $150 billion by 2030, with a focus on balanced and sustainable growth. Vietnam and South Korea also agreed to strengthen cooperation in science and technology, development assistance, workforce training, and policies that support stable, long-term investment by businesses from both countries.
The discussions highlight how Vietnam–South Korea cooperation is expanding beyond traditional trade and manufacturing into high-tech industries, AI, semiconductors, energy and digital infrastructure. This growing partnership could create new opportunities for Vietnam to strengthen its position in global supply chains and attract more technology-intensive, high-value investment projects.
